Opening a work order request from an event

When an event recorded during the shift needs a repair (a leak, vibration, a failed instrument), one click turns it into a work order request. Maintenance gets the same description and location the shift recorded, and the event and the work order point to each other.

  • Permission: requesting or managing work orders — cmms:wo:request.
  • Prerequisite: the Maintenance module is on for your organisation, and the event is already recorded in the diary.
  1. Open the shift diary and find the event in the list.
  2. Check the technical location. The work order is placed on the event’s technical location. If the event has no location picked from the list, a Functional location for the work order… picker appears next to the button: a work order always needs a location from the list, free text is not enough here. If the site has no functional location yet, the button is disabled — add one first (Functional locations master list).
  3. Click “Work order request” on the event’s row. The work order is created as Requested, with the event’s title and description.
  4. Maintenance approves the work order on the Work orders page and schedules it from there.
