Competence in Analytics: coverage, expiries, exams (ISO 45001 §7.2)

The “Competence (ISO 45001 §7.2)” view template puts the aggregated metrics of the Training module on one dashboard: qualification coverage, expired and soon-expiring qualifications, assignments and exam results. You find it in the Analytics “Settings ▾” menu, under “Dashboard editor”, with the “From a template” button.

  • Module: the Training module must be on.
  • Permission: the “Training metrics in analytics” right (analytics:training). A role can only get it together with viewing the Training register (training:view).
  • If either is missing, the template card cannot be chosen and shows why: “This needs the Training module and the “Training metrics in analytics” right.”
  1. Open the “Dashboard editor” and click “From a template”.
  2. Choose the “Competence (ISO 45001 §7.2)” card.
  3. The template first creates up to three calculated metrics on the view’s site (on a company-level view, on every site). A metric that already exists is not created again.
  4. Save the view.

The three calculated metrics:

Metric Formula Unit
Qualification coverage 100 × valid / required %
Exam pass rate 100 × passed / submitted %
Average attempts to pass sum of attempts / passed exams –

Their identifiers start with training_. That prefix is reserved for template metrics: your own calculated metric cannot use it, and a template metric’s formula cannot be changed — its name and unit can.

  • Qualification coverage — a number tile; you can set a target.
  • Expired qualifications.
  • Overdue assignments and pending assignments.
  • Qualifications expiring within 30, 60 and 90 days — three separate numbers. The windows are cumulative: those expiring within 30 days are also in the 60- and 90-day numbers, so do not add the three up.
  • Coverage trend.
  • Coverage by type — a table per qualification type, weakest type first. Where no qualification is required, it does not show 0% but “No qualification is required in this scope.”
  • Exam pass rate (number and trend), submitted exams, average attempts to pass.
  • Only with the Permit-to-Work module on: two tiles on permit issues blocked by the worker’s and by the issuer’s qualification. With the module off, these two tiles are left out, and the template card says so.
  1. In the “Coverage by type” table, click a row: the whole view narrows to that qualification type. Coverage and pass rate are then recomputed from that type’s own numbers.
  2. Click the same row again to clear it.

The assignment tiles are not narrowed, because an assignment has no qualification type — the tile says so. An archived type shows its name with “(archived)”.

  • The trend starts when recording began — there is no data for earlier days, and the tile says so.
  • Demo or rebuilt early days are marked “reconstructed (approximate)”.
  • Today’s value is not final yet: “Not final — evaluated: …” with the time.
  • If the Training module is switched off, the tiles keep the last computed value: “The Training module is switched off — last computed value.”
  • A user without the “Training metrics in analytics” right does not see empty tiles — the tiles are hidden from them. If such a user saves a shared view, saving does not remove these tiles from it.
What you see Why What to do
“… a metric with the same identifier but a different formula already exists …” A calculated metric with the same key but another formula already exists on the site. Rename or delete it on the Calculated metrics page, then load the template again.
“… you reached the per-site limit …” The site’s allowance of 40 calculated metrics is used up. Delete an old metric and try again.
“The template’s calculated metrics can be created by a user with the “Analytics – manage” right …” Creating them the first time needs analytics:manage. Ask a colleague with that right to load the template once on this site.

Analytics only shows aggregated numbers — by site, plant and qualification type. There is no per-person data in it, and medical fitness is left out entirely. To see who has what expiring, use the Matrix tab of the Training module, with its own permissions (see the Qualifications article).
