Exams: settings, taking an exam on mobile, supervised exams, results

On the Exams tab of the Training module you decide what your employees are examined on and under which rules. An exam draws from the question bank pools, freshly for every attempt. Grading is automatic and happens on the server: the candidate’s device never receives the correct answers before submitting.

  • The Training module must be enabled for the tenant.
  • Permissions:
    • set up exams, reset attempt allowances: training:manage;
    • start a supervised exam: training:assess (by default the System administrator’s; grant it on the Permissions page, e.g. to shift leaders);
    • take your own exam: training:take (every role has it) — and your account must be linked to an employee in the employee register.
  • The question bank should contain questions (see Question bank).
  1. Exams tab → New exam: give it a title and optionally link it to a course.
  2. On the exam page set:
    • Question pools and draw: how many questions each pool contributes to an attempt (the pool’s live question count is shown next to it);
    • pass mark (default 80%), attempt limit (default 3), wait between attempts (default 24 hours);
    • time limit (optional, minutes) and when an abandoned attempt expires (default 24 hours);
    • partial credit for multiple-choice (off by default: all or nothing);
    • whether correct answers and explanations show after submission, and shuffling;
    • the qualification granted on pass (if empty, the course’s).
  3. Save, then Activate. If the draw cannot be satisfied (no pool, or too few questions in a pool), Activate is disabled and the page says why.
  4. Own exam: the employee starts with Start exam under My exams on the Exams tab (or on My trainings) — only exams assigned to them in an open self-paced window (see Assignments). The player shows one question per screen, also on mobile; every answer is sent as soon as it is chosen, and “✓ Saved” shows once the server has accepted it — so after an interruption Continue picks up where they left. For numeric questions type the number only (no unit; a decimal comma and “1 000” are fine); an answer that cannot be accepted is flagged in red under the question and does not count as saved. Review shows the answers actually saved (including the unanswered and the invalid ones); Submit is available only when every answer is saved and none is invalid, and grades after confirmation.
  5. Supervised exam: in the Supervised exam section of the exam page pick the candidate and the channel (“On the supervisor’s device” or “Transcribed from paper”), then Start supervised exam. You (the supervisor) and the channel are part of the attempt; the candidate needs no account.

After submitting, the player shows Exam passed / failed, the percentage and the pass mark and — if allowed — the correct answer and explanation per question. Someone opening another person’s attempt from the exam page sees only the result; the per-question answers and the solution are visible to the supervisor and the training manager. The correct answers are visible when you have no exam in progress: while you yourself have an open (own or supervised) attempt on ANY exam, no attempt’s solution is shown to you — not even your own earlier exam’s. The attempt is stored frozen (the question versions used, the answers, the score, the supervisor and the channel); its fingerprint (SHA-256) is shown at the bottom. A passed exam appears among the employee’s qualifications with an “Exam” badge. Question statistics on the exam page show the full-mark rate per question.

What you see Why What to do
“Your account is not linked to an (active) employee” No employee record is linked to your account. Ask the System administrator to link it.
“Retry from: …” The wait after a failed attempt is still running. Wait until the time shown.
“No attempts left” The attempt limit is reached. The training owner can open a new round with a reason from the attempt’s ⋮ menu.
“Another attempt is already in progress” An open (e.g. supervised) attempt exists for this employee. Finish it or let it expire.
“You cannot supervise your own exam” You picked your own employee record as candidate. Another supervisor must start it.
