The full picture of one company or person: the company and person card

The company card and the person card bring together what the permits know about a contractor or a worker: on how many permits, in which role, in which plants and on what kind of work they were, for how long, where suspensions, extraordinary closures, expiries or failed gas tests occurred — and whose competences are expiring. The card is a safety-oriented overview, not a performance review: most numbers drill down to the permits (where a number cannot be expressed as a filter, an asterisk marks it and it does not open), and nothing on the page is a ranking.

  • Permission: three rights together — to view Analytics analytics:view, to view permits ptw:view and the “Person-level permit report” ptw:report_people. Without them the card does not open: “The company and person cards need three permissions: view analytics, view permits and person-level PTW reporting. Your organisation’s administrator can grant them in the permission matrix.” The Shift leader and the administrator roles have it by default; it can also be given to a custom role.
  • Module: both the Analytics and the Permit to work module must be switched on.
  • Data quality: the card is only as precise as the workers on the permits are linked to the person register and the companies to the contractor register. The card states the gaps (see below).
The company card: the overview (permits, person-hours, identified people), the roles, the plants and permit types, the company’s people in alphabetical order.
The company card (with invented data). The overview on top, below it the roles, plants, types and the company’s people.
  1. Open the card. It is reachable from three places, and the link only appears if the card would open for you:
    • in the permit report, when Company or Person is the row dimension — the “Open card” icon next to the row;
    • in the Person and competence register, the person’s name;
    • on Maintenance → Settings → Contractors, next to the company’s row: “PTW company card →”.
  2. Set the filter. The card uses the usual permit filters of Analytics, but the subject is fixed: “The company is the subject of the card — the company filter cannot be set here; the other filters narrow the company’s permits.” (on the person card the same for the person). The “Expiry watch window (days)” sets how far ahead competence expiries are shown. Apply with “Refresh card”; until you do, the page says: “The filter is not applied yet — the card shows the new numbers after refreshing.”
  3. Read the overview. Permits · Person-hours · (for a company) Identified people; (for a person) the permits they issued As issuer. Person-hours come from the worker rows’ time (for a running permit, so far), rounded to one decimal. The “Reference day” states which day the expiry watch refers to.
  4. Look at the roles. For a company: “Requesting company” and “Workers’ company”. For a person, next to the worker roles, also As issuer, As approver and As coordinator — these are linked through the person’s login account, so for a person without an account the page says: “The person has no login account — the issuer, approver and coordinator roles cannot be linked to them.”
  5. Look at the plants and permit types — a permit belongs to one plant and one type, so these rows add up to all permits.
  6. For a company: look at the company’s people. “The company’s people” — alphabetical (“This is not a ranking.”); the name opens the person card. Workers not yet identified are in a row of their own: “Unidentified worker (free-text name)”.
  7. Look at the problems by month (see the picture below the steps): four kinds — Suspension, Extraordinary closure, Expired (not handed back), Failed gas test — plus the number of gas tests.
  8. Look at the expiring competences. “Expiring and expired competences”: per kind of competence, with the Expires date, the Days left and a State marker (Expired or Expiring). For a company, per person. The source is the person register’s documents; per kind, the latest valid document’s expiry counts (a renewal is a new document).
  9. Look at the competence-gate failures. “Competence gate — by person”: who failed the competence check at issue — the Day, the Permit (the number opens the permit), the competence kind, the Reason (e.g. expired, missing, employment ended) and the Outcome: Issue blocked or Issued with warning (with a reason). For a company, per person; the company is the one at the time of the failure. Recorded by person since 14 October 2026 — earlier events only have permit-level data (the report’s “Permits issued over a competence warning” measure).
  10. Drill down behind any number: a clickable number opens the permit list, with the card’s filter.

The problem table:

The problem table: per month the number of permits, suspension, extraordinary closure, expired permit, failed gas test and number of gas tests, with the failure rate below.
The “Problems by month” table. A cell is the number of permits affected; the number of cases is in brackets when higher.

The permit count matches the same row of the permit report (the card rounds person-hours to one decimal), and the drilled-down list count matches the card’s number. A company’s person-hours are a different set, though: the company card adds up the minutes of the company’s own workers, while the report’s company row covers everyone working on the permit — if another company’s people also worked on a permit, the two differ (for example 8 hours on the card, 9 hours on the report’s company row). Opening a card is written to the audit log (who, when, which company or person, on how many permits) — the card’s content is not.

The person card: the overview (permits, person-hours, as issuer), the roles, plants, permit types and the monthly breakdown of problems.
The person card (with invented data).
  • A “0” reads against the row’s permit count. In the problem table a cell is the number of permits affected; if one permit had two suspensions, the cell is 1 with a 2 in brackets for the cases. A permit can appear in several months (on the validity axis), so the monthly rows can add up to more than the whole period; what cannot be placed on the chosen date axis, the page states.
  • The gas-test failure is its own sentence: “Gas tests: … failed out of … (…%).”, or when there were none: “No gas tests were recorded on these permits.”
  • A non-clickable number: if a set cannot be expressed exactly with the filter (e.g. “as supervisor”, “suspended”), an asterisk stands by the number and the page says it cannot be opened as a list.
  • An archived person is readable (with an “Archived” marker); an archived person is however not listed among the expiring competences.
  • An empty filter: “No permits match this filter — the role, plant, type and problem breakdowns are empty. Expiring competences are still shown below.”
What you see Why What to do
“You don’t have access to this page” and the explanation naming the three rights One of the rights is missing. Ask your administrator for the missing right in the permission matrix.
“There is no such company in the organisation’s contractor register.” / “There is no such person in the organisation’s person register.” The referenced company or person does not exist in your organisation. Go back to the pivot and open it again from there.
There is no “Open card” icon or link The link only appears if the card would open: all three rights and both modules are needed. Check the rights and the modules.
Many “Unidentified worker” rows for a company The workers on the permits are not linked to the person register. Link them with the person register’s Organiser; the card is more precise afterwards.
